a neighbor's homegoing

A precious lady, our neighbor's mother, Mrs. Bessie Rebecca Griffin, went to be with the Lord this morning. She had seen a century plus of living - the things that she must have known. She always delighted to see our youngest son. I wish he had been able to see her more. I pray for the family as they adjust to the loss, but I know she is happy to make it Home.

I'll never forget the time when Mom had fallen and did not want anyone to help her get up. Her son and daughter-in-law were out to dinner and she was being cared for by an in-house nurse. The Nurse had got the attention of nearest neighbors (they lived directly across the street) and they came to our house and explained the sitution and we rushed down to our neighbor's house.

Mom broke into a big smile when she saw me, my wife and our youngest son, and said "I know you" and let me help her up...

Its not that i'm a movie star (as that wouldn't have mattered to Mom), but she recognized us because we had spent a lot of time at their house, talking with our neighbors and Mom.

As the bible says, 'by your fruits ye shall be known' and I was glad that we had fruit that Mom, even in the early stages of dementia, could recognize....
